November 19, 2024: It's that time of year when the Big Worm migrates south to fish the ocean out of Virginia Beach. We're now booking for Black Sea Bass, and Bluefin Tuna when they show up. We have a handful of dates available. Season closes the end of December.  We'll be operating from Fisherman's Wharf Marina (524 Winston Salem Ave., Virginia Beach, VA 23451).  See Directions .

Keep in mind that the Big Worm is 52 foot long and 16 foot wide -- one of the largest charter boats operating on the Chesapeake Bay.  Call or text Captain Drew Payne at 410-474-4428 real soon to reserve your trip!

See what we caught last winter in the "Catch Window" immediately below!

February 24, 2020: (Right) Here at Big Worm Charters we had another first yesterday!!!! With the help and effort of Doug Collison and Rich Mogel, Big Worm put its first Bluefin on deck!! Our first bite came 5 minutes after setting out. We were a LITTLE taken by the power and speed of these fish. Unless you have a set of 130s or bigger don't waste your time. Anyway we learned a few things after our first fish escaped. Next bite came an hour later and after an hour and half battle, we boated our first. It weighed in at 201 pounds and after some negotiations with Scottsoo I was sadly disappointed that I didn't get $20 a pound!!! But it was still exciting to do! A special thanks to a handful of Vrginia Beach locals who have helped me along the way. I won't mention their names -- they know who they are! Thanks guys!

December 27, 2019:
(Below) Captain Worm and crew went swordfishing out of Virginia Beach and came back with one that tipped the scales at 445 lbs!!! The former Virginia State Record sword was caught September 1, 2012 and weighed 446 lbs!! So Captain Drew's fish was one pound shy of the former VA State record -- not bad my friend!!  The current VA State Record was caught August 16, 2019 and weighed 466 lb. Great job!!
