December 1999
Here we have most of the Mark Feeney crew with some nice rockfish to 38 inches, caught on December 31 at the season's close.
And here's Sean with his big rockfish ...
Yes, it's almost Christmas but the rockfish don't know it -- the big ones continue to bite well. Here's Paul Grisso of the Andrew Dobranski crew of December 23 with a 43 inch whopper.
And here's the Bob Christ crew of December 19 with part of their limit catch of stripers to 42 inches. From left to right, that's Kevin, Jeff, "Cotton", Lee, Bob, and Lee Sr. All hands agreed that the fishing was simply outstanding.
Here's a closeup of Lee and his dad with a couple of buckethead rockfish.
Here's the Steve Brown (far right) crew of December 18 with their limits of rockfish. That's Allen on the far left, then Frank, Steve Jr., Frank, and Brian.
And here we have Kari and Stu of the Mark Sugg (not shown) crew, who fished on the "Worm" with us Friday December 17. That's a mighty fine 42 inch rockfish which kept them both busy for awhile.
On December 16 the Tim Keuski crew fished on the "Worm" and caught an excellent grade of rockfish to 44 inches.
Here's Allen Longest with a 44 inch, 44 pound trophy.
Here we have the Fred Gers (far left) crew of December 15 with most of their limit catch of big rockfish to 42 inches. Next to Fred, that's Larry, Fred, Chet, Fred Sr., and Rick. We hope that Fred and his crew enjoy fishing with us as much as we do with them.
It's only justice that Fred, who organizes these trips with us, captured the largest fish of the day, a 42 incher.
Here's Larry with his two rockfish, which were among the largest of the day, at least according to Larry... (just kidding Larry)
Or maybe Rick's were among the largest...
Although Chet had some nice fish as well...
As did Fred... | |
Clearly, Fred Sr. came up short this trip, but we all remember Fred's flounder from a previous ride on the "Worm"...
If you're tired of looking at photos of big rockfish, you might as well move on to another website -- because this fall/winter season fishing out of Point Lookout Marina has been awesome. Here's the Mike Fox crew of December 12 with some of their catch of impressive stripers.
And here's the "Fox Man" himself with a well-fed Potomac River trophy.
December 11's nasty weather interfered with fishing, but you can't convince the John Peyton crew. They had four fish over 40 inches, including a 41 pounder. From left to right, that's Rob, Paul, John, Kevin, Scott, and "Sam".
Here's John with one of his fish...
And Paul with his 45 inch, 41 pounder...
And Kevin with a 40 inch beauty...
And "Sam" with her 41 inch trophy...
And Rob with another 40 inch class rocky...
And here we have most of the Dick Smith crew of December 10 with some of their catch. From left to right, that's Harry, Mark, Dick, Phil, and John. Before we got the 5th rod overboard, we had 4 hookups!
Here's Dick with a nice rockfish...
And Phil and John with a pair of 36 inch rockies...
And Mark with a 38 incher...
And Steve with his limit...
Here's Mike of the Morry Frankel crew of December 6 with one of their nicer rockfish.
And here we have the Dave Pounds (far right) crew with some of their limits of rockfish, caught on December 5 a few miles south of Smith Point Light. From left to right, that's Clark, Mike, Buddy, Mike, Mark and Dave.
Here's Mike with the first fish of the day, a 42 inch beauty.
Not to be outdone, Clark landed this 46 inch, 46 pound whopper rockfish that simply inhaled a large white parachute trimmed with a 9 inch shad. What a trophy!
Just when we thought we were about done for the day, Dave caught this beautiful 44 inch rockfish.
And here's the Mark Young (far right) crew from December 4 with their limits of fine rockfish to 45 inches. From left to right, that's Charlie, Bill, Bill, Mark's dad Bill, Bobby, and Mark hiding behind a big rock.
Here's Bill with one of their 40 inch class rockfish...
And here's a better view of Mark and Bobby with a 45 inch trophy. |
